In late November, I interviewed Dr. Cheryl Moy of the Chemistry Department of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. This is a character profile piece.
“Sometimes, upon entering Dr. Cheryl Moy’s Kenan Hall office on the campus of UNC-Chapel Hill, you’ll be greeted first by her lean and attentive greyhound named Finn.
Dr. Moy, 33, is a STEM Teaching Assistant Professor of UNC-CH’s Department of Chemistry whose resume features science policy positions at The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine as well as NASA. She also runs marathons, attends UNC-CH basketball games, and looks forward to spending time with her large dogs at home.
‘If I could be an animal…I would be a cheetah, because I want to run really fast,’ said Dr. Moy in her office on Thursday. Her greyhound Finn, lying asleep in a small bed to her side, stirred and exhaled audibly.”
